Places to Visit in Yercaud for an Unforgettable Trip
If you’re yearning for a vacation that feels like a dream, then make your way to Yercaud, the ‘Jewel of the South’, where the views will have you wondering if you've stepped into a living postcard. Nestled in the heart of the mountains, surrounded by lush greenery, every corner whispers perfection as if nature herself painted it.
And what could be better than basking in this beauty? Staying at GReat trails Yercaud by GRT Hotels, of course! Our haven offers you seamless access to these picture-perfect attractions in Yercaud, so you can wander and wonder to your heart's content. Embrace the magic—these views won’t wait for you to admire them!
Big Lake, Big Fun: Dive into the Delights of Yercaud Lake
Emerald Lake, also known as Big Lake or Yercaud Lake, offers 32 acres of water activities that are sure to pique your interest, and it is just 4 minutes from our property. It's a well-loved destination in Yercaud for boating and fishing. Interestingly, it stands alone as the only naturally formed lake amongst all the hill stations in South India and sits at an altitude of 4,969 ft. Picnics and bird-watching are also popular here, with sightings of various bird species, such as egrets, herons, and kingfishers, which can be seen taking off from the shoreline. Even if you're simply there to enjoy the scenery, the views are definitely worthwhile.
Kiliyur Falls: A Cascade of Beauty
Fancy a splash of adventure? Kiliyur Falls is your destination, which is 10 minutes from our resort. This waterfall is essentially Yercaud Lake's 300 ft. drop into the Kiliyur Valley. To experience this beauty up close, you'll need to descend around 250 steps. But trust us, the steps are a small price to pay for the stunning view.
Lady's Seat and Its Rocky Crew
Fancy a seat with a view? Then, Lady's Seat is your ticket to panoramic perfection! Just a quick 11-minute trip from our property, you'll find yourself immersed in breathtaking sights. Picture this: winding ghat roads, the majestic Mettur Dam on the Cauvery River, and the sprawling Salem town, all laid out before you. And if you'd fancy a closer look, there's a viewing tower with a telescope ready to zoom in on the beauty. Oh, and did we mention that Lady's Seat is part of a rocky trio? Gent's Seat and Children's Seat join the party, making it a truly rocking destination.
A Day in Yercaud's Botanical Paradise
Yercaud's Botanical Garden offers a truly immersive natural escape. A quick 3-minute jaunt from our resort, you can find yourself amidst this verdant haven. Venture into India's third-largest orchidarium, where a greenhouse displays a stunning variety of orchids, including nearly 30 endangered species—quite a rare sight! The garden itself boasts 3,000 trees and 1,800 shrubs, offering endless opportunities to capture the exotic beauty of unique flora. Yercaud is celebrated for the Kurinji flowers, blooming once every twelve years, and here you find this flower in abundance along with the intriguing Lady's Slipper orchid. For anyone seeking a captivating journey through botanical wonders, this garden is an absolute must-visit—a perfect way to spend a day surrounded by nature's best.
Pyramid Point: Where Nature and History Stack Up!
Pagoda Point offers a perspective that's, shall we say, significantly enhancing. If you're up for a quick 15-minute drive from our doorstep, you'll be rewarded with this remarkable view. You get a bird's eye view of the Salem town, neatly arranged below, and Yercaud's famous 21 hairpin bends winding their way up. The mountains, putting on quite a show, are a sight to behold. Plus, you might notice some interesting rock formations, earning it the nickname Pyramid Point. It's also ideal for watching sunrises and sunsets, injecting a bit of magic into the already impressive scenery. An old Rama temple nearby lends a historical note, suggesting a deeper exploration.
Anna Park's Playground Paradise
For a park experience that’s the Avengers of greenery, Anna Park is your spot, and, lucky for you, it's just a breezy 4-minute hop from our doorstep. It’s like four parks had a secret meeting and decided to merge into one superpark: Lake Park, Deer Park, Gandhi Park, and Children’s Park. And just when you thought you'd seen it all, there's a Japanese-style garden showing off its perfectly arranged plants. Kids can conquer the playground slides and see-saws while animal enthusiasts can enjoy observing the deer and peacocks in Deer Park. Basically, Anna Park is where you go when you want a park day that's a bit of everything without being boring.
A Journey Through Yercaud's Silk Farm and Rose Garden
A trip to Yercaud wouldn't be complete without a peek into the world of silk and roses, both found conveniently near Lady's Seat. A quick 11-minute drive will land you in the midst of these fascinating spots. At the Rose Garden, you'll find a colourful international gathering of roses, and if you're feeling inspired, you can even snag some nursery plants to try your hand at growing your own. Over at the Silk Farm, you can witness the complete silk-making process, from the mulberry-munching silkworms to the spinning of those delicate threads. Who knew silk production could be so interesting? Just a heads-up the best time to see the silkworm action is during the monsoon, so plan your visit accordingly.
Shevaroyan Temple: A Blend of Faith and Breathtaking Views
High up on Shevaroyan Hill, a breezy 5,326 ft. above Yercaud, you'll find the Shevaroyan Temple—not your average spiritual pit stop! And, for a bit of perspective, it's about a 16-minute scenic drive from our resort. It's more like a time-travel adventure into a 2,000-year-old cave, or so the locals say, a direct line to the area's tribal roots, honouring Lord Shevaroyan and Goddess Kaveri. Picture yourself squeezing through those narrow, idol-lined passages, where whispers of secret tunnels to the Kaveri River and legends of Tippu Sultan's hide-and-seek games still float. Feeling lucky? Toss a stone into the wishing well, or join the big party at the May festival. And just when you think you've seen it all, those panoramic views of Yercaud and Nagalur will remind you why this place is a perfect mix of history, faith, and, well, really great scenery.
For a relaxing end to your sightseeing in Yercaud, treat yourself to a stay at GReaT trails Yercaud by GRT Hotels. We offer more than just a place to rest; we're a destination in itself. Enjoy comfortable rooms, smile-inducing food, and a dip in our infinity pool. And, because we want to ensure your every need is met, we provide a 24-hour concierge service. We also show our devotion to the environment with thoughtful touches like our zero-bottle water policy and EV charging stations—a small yet meaningful way to enrich your stay. It’s our way of ensuring that your Yercaud adventure feels complete, leaving you with a sense of connection to both nature and the place. We’d be honoured to welcome you and share this experience.
